About HighDrate!

Banned In 1979

BANNED IN 1979. After a dispute over wages the toddy shops closed, and a drink that had been part of Singapore for generations all but disappeared.

Highdrate Pte. Ltd. was set up in 2020 to bring it back — the first to do so since the ban. We source directly from regulated plantations in Malaysia and import under our Singapore Food Agency permit. Tapped in the morning, chilled and across the causeway within 24 hours.

About Toddy

What Is Toddy

Coconut Palm Toddy, more commonly known as “Tuak, Kallu or Palm Wine”, is a sweet sap tapped from the flower of the coconut tree. A tapper climbs the tree, cuts the inflorescence and collects the sap. In the tropical heat it begins fermenting on its own within hours, producing a mildly alcoholic drink.

Serve it cold, straight from the fridge. It is lightly sweet with a sour edge, and grows drier the longer it sits.
